Radio Network Configurator

Radio Network Configurator system is designed for automation of setup and maintenance of GSM /UMTS radio networks.

The system realizes various business processes either in automatic or semiautomatic (by means of user-friendly graphic interface) mode, which allows reducing of time consumption, and also of human factor errors.

Automation tasks can be divided into following main lines:

Collection of topology and configuration;
Check for network consistency;
Frequency planning and network optimization;
Setting and configuration of new BTS;
Migration of BTS within the limits of one BSC, and also between two BSC.

	Topology and configuration collection Topology and configuration information is collected both from network elements by MML-commands and from OSS by northbound interfaces. The system can collect the data on the schedule or by request. It tracks configuration changing in time and stores topology changing history.
	Consistency check The system automates network consistency check. For this purpose, the system allows storing and change of configuration parameters templates. By user request current configuration of the network is compared with these templates. In case of divergence of any parameter values the user receives notification.
	Network planning and optimization The system supports current and planned network configuration, at that it provides correctness of planned network configuration parameters, compares network configurations and generates the pack of changes. According to results of planning, generates a new frequency plan for BSC configuration modification and by user request, a formed batch of MML commands can be executed.
	Setting and configuration of new BTS, migration Radio Network Configurator automates setting and configuration of new BTS, BTS transfer process by means of batch files allowing these processes in user-friendly graphic interface.

What are the Hardware requirements for RNC?

RNC is a client-server system.
Necessary software component:

Server - Oracle 10g RDBMS standard or enterprise edition, TomCat, Java (JRE).
Workstation - Microsoft Windows XP professional and up, any Web-browser, Adobe Flash Player.

Recommended HW configuration:

Server - Oracle compatible, 200Gb HDD for 50 BSC, 2Gb RAM for 50-200 users.
Workstation - 500Mhz CPU, 256Mb RAM, 1024 x 768 screen area, 50Mb HDD.
